International day of dignity 2018
This week our high school students took part in celebrating the International day of dignity. This is the first time when we joined this event, although in Ukraine it has already been celebrated for 3 years.
We offered our students some materials to work with:
- Lesson materials recommended by UNDP
- Making letters and pictures with Crimean theme;
- Stories connected with Holocaust and Holodomor;
- Recommendations about Internet safety from Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Children's Rights.
It was interesting to see how students tried to analyze the mankind division by their basic needs (money, food, water, education, accommodation, Internet access etc.).
The most emotional thing was the discussion of a moral dilemma. Students worked in groups and then defended their opinions. It was also a pleasure to see that 11-th grade students continued the discussion in the canteen after the lesson had ended.
P.S.What our students think about dignity:
Dignity is a phenomenon of self-respect which doesn`t affect the ability to respect others.
“Dignity is a phenomenon of self-respect which doesn`t affect the ability to respect others.”
“Dignity shows the value of a person according to their moral qualities.”
“Dignity is a trait of a person which lets them stay Human in any circumstances.”
